Engineering Class Study
AEE Bargaining Unit Members –
There have been many questions and concerns raised about the results of the Engineering Class Study. AEE is doing our best to field the questions and we appreciate your patience.
ODOT expects to notify employees officially by June 19th. When you receive your official notification, the 30 day clock for appeals starts. AEE is checking with ODOT to see if there is an official appeal form that needs to be filled out. If so, we will make that form available.
ODOT HR Class and Comp has created a SharePoint page with information on how they are handling the reclassification of those impacted by the class study. The webpage is on the internal ODOT site and available to ODOT employees only. The page is at: https://ordot.sharepoint.com/sites/HR/SitePages/Engineering-Classification-Study.aspx
ODOT HR Class and Comp will be hosting some overview meetings scheduled (see right-hand side of the above ODOT webpage). AEE plans on hosting a lunch meeting Tuesday June 10th to answer questions. We will send out a separate invite for that meeting.
AEE has posted the new classification specifications to our website (https://aeeo.org/aeenews/class-specs). Some of the specifications still say “draft” or “final draft”, but these are the final copies we received from DAS.
Remember the changes to the classification specifications were completed by DAS as a result of the class study that included AEE members and ODOT management. The salaries were then bargained on the new classification specifications. As with all negotiations, there are not necessarily winners or losers, but that which makes it past the finish line. Both sides felt like they gave too much, but what was agreed upon is where both sides could settle.
If you are not an active dues paying member, please join us as we are currently bargaining the 2025-2027 contract and fighting for raises and protecting employees’ rights at the table. Active members get to vote in elections and contract ratification.
Unsure if you are a dues paying member? Check your paystub for “AEE Dues” deduction.
