Weingarten Rights

Know Your Rights

As an AEE Union member, you have unique rights which help to ensure you have a more consistent workplace that promotes fair practices, treatment, and helps to protects you from arbitrary mis-treatment by management. Some of your rights include:

This gives you the right to have a union representative present during investigatory interviews.

Grievances

When the Collective Bargaining Contract (The Contract) has not been followed by management, a greivance may be filed. (See more about Greivances.)

The AEE Contract and Collective Bargaining

A contract exists between AEE represented members and The State of Oregon. This contract touches on many aspects of your relationship with management to document agreements regarding treatment, pay, benefits, discipline, and other topics. Every two years, AEE's Contract with the State may be adjusted through by both AEE Union Representatives (The Collective Bargaining Team) and Management Representatives. These adjustments can address a wide range of topics such as fair standard treatment of our members, step increases, and allowances, just to name a few.

If you are interested in helping represent AEE in this process, please contact the office.

Together, all these rights help to ensure a better workplace for you by introducing standard processes which ensures consistent treatment of employees by management.
