Thor Alvarado Passing

AEE Members,

We are deeply saddened to announce the sudden passing of AEE First Vice President and comrade Thor S. Alvarado on January 1, 2022. During his tenure at AEE, he insisted on “making Oregon better.” He showed compassion towards others, humor, conviction, and a creative mindset. In December of 2017, while working as an Assistant Project Manager for ODOT out of the Beaverton Construction Office, he volunteered as the AEE Region 1 Director. He remained in that role wholeheartedly until recently, in July of 2021, when he stepped up to add Vice President and Bargaining Chair at AEE to his pursuits.

Thor was a big personality with a huge heart for the AEE members. Thor took his role representing members very seriously and personally negotiated multiple unique and satisfactory resolutions between members and the Agency. With his booming voice, tall stature, signature ponytail, and fiery passion, Thor was well known by many and will be sorely missed.

AEE extends our deepest and heartfelt condolences to his family and anyone who knew or worked with Thor.

The funeral for Thor will be held on Friday, January 21, 2022 at 12:30 PM. Details:
