Special Session Update

Friday August 29th, AEE members participated in a successful rally to support the proposed transportation funding bill on the Capitol Building steps in Salem. Over 100 SEIU and AEE members came out to raise their voices and make our presence known to Oregon legislators. AEE made up roughly a quarter of that turn-out, so thank you to those members who volunteered their time to make the trip to Salem! We received positive coverage in the Statesman Journal:

Much has happened over the weekend since the rally and continues to be a work in progress. It is easy to find current articles and information online by Googling “Oregon Special Session 2025” or similar. Many of the local media are following the special session closely. The Transportation House Bill HB3991 passed the house this weekend and has moved to the Senate as of Labor Day. The Senate will hold a second reading today, Tuesday September 2nd. The bill can be found at:

Additionally, video streaming of the session is available at: https://www.oregonlegislature.gov/citizen_engagement/Pages/Legislative-Video.aspx

The Oregon Legislature website has lots of good information on how to get involved. We recommend members continue to reach out to legislators to ensure they show up and continue to move forward and make your voices heard.

In Unity,

AEE
