Friday afternoon meeting with local SEIU 503
Hello everyone,
The AEE board met on Friday afternoon with the local SEIU 503 union. They shared with us that they are working on multiple fronts to apply pressure on Oregon legislators to take action.
They are hearing legislators don’t believe the layoffs are real at ODOT, so they are recommending everyone who has received a layoff notice to send an email to your legislators and attach their layoff notice so they can directly see what is happening.
They have developed a tool through their website that folks can take a short video that SEIU will ensure is appropriate to send that will go directly to your legislators. They are welcoming everyone at ODOT to send a video so legislators can hear directly how all of our lives are being negatively impacted by their lack of action.
On their website is a link you can use to put in your address that will pull up all your legislators contact information for you to use, a link to record a video, and a link to a release form for the union to use the video that you submitted. AEE is hoping that by partnering with SEIU and adding our voices to theirs that the legislative body will solve the problem they left behind leading to our current layoffs.
