Town Hall Meetings

Dear Members,

As we all know a critical vote is coming in the Legislature’s upcoming Special Session on Friday, August 29th (See AEE E-mail regarding AEE/SEIU joint Rally). In the run-up to the special session there are two critical town hall meetings this week that we need to show support for the funding package in any way we can. There will be opportunities to speak out, and make our voices heard at each of these events. This is critical as there are groups lobbying against any funding package for ODOT on all fronts. We need to make our voices heard so that these legislators can hear firsthand what ODOT does and why our work is important to all of Oregon.

With the failure of HB 2025, it is clear that there is a lack of leadership and communication that came from ODOT Leadership. We all heard for months that HB2025 was a “shoe-in” to pass, and there was no preparation in the event it did not. As that same leadership quietly resigns and takes positions elsewhere, ODOT employees, and AEE specifically, need to do what we can to step up, advocate for ourselves, our livelyhoods, our families, and the public we serve – 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

In solidarity –

AEE Board
